RCMP looking to re-start Citizens On Patrol

The Claresholm RCMP is looking to start up Citizens On Patrol again.
Corporal Christian Lafleur of the Claresholm RCMP explained Citizens On Patrol is a service to the community that acts as an extra set of eyes for the police.
Utilizing their own vehicles, volunteers working in pairs will drive around at times, more prone to crime, looking for anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
If they see something they call it in to the RCMP, but never get involved directly or intervene.
“They’re an extra set of eyes,” Lafleur said. “The more eyes we have, the better it is.”
He stressed the program is flexible. If people can offer a few hours or a few days, their time is welcome and Lafleur will create a schedule to match the hours available.
Anyone interested in more information or volunteering some time for Citizens On Patrol can contact Corporal Christian Lafleur or Constable Sheldon Coates at the Claresholm RCMP detachment at 403-625-4445.
