AWNA

The Claresholm Local Press is proud to be a long-standing member of the Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association. In order to be a member in good standing we are required to follow a strict set of standards which in turn enables us to better serve our community.
The AWNA now represents 110 members province-wide with a combined circulation of over 800,000. The original intent of the AWNA – ‘to keep community newspapers productive, profitable and the heart of the community they serve’, still holds true today.
The board of directors and staff of the AWNA continue to work hard to make it a leader amongst newspaper associations across Canada. They were pioneers in starting the blanket classified program, the digital archive system and a national advertising service. They provide training courses for newspaper staff throughout Alberta. They recognize outstanding newspapers through the Better Newspaper Competition, of which we are past winners.
The AWNA website offers complete and comprehensive information on:

  • Blanket Alberta Classified
  • Place a 2 X 2 ad
  • Membership lists
  • Bursary & Scholarship applications for journalism students
  • And much more
