The Stavely Community Centre is the place to be to see student art from three area schools in celebration of Alberta’s Culture Days.
The Claresholm Arts Society is putting on its second annual Student Art Show and Sale which will take place on Friday, Sept. 29, featuring art by students from Stavely Elementary School, Willow Creek Composite High School and Granum School.
“As an arts society, our mission is to support and promote the arts in our community and that includes visual arts,” said Karen Linderman of the arts society. “This is a really good opportunity to promote the art work of the youth in our communities.”
Moreover, it gives students the experience of showing their art, the reward of selling their creation, and introduces the whole community to this talent.
The schools already teach art, but this show enhances the efforts going on in the school and the community.
“None of this could be done without the collaboration of the schools,” Linderman said. “I think it shows they value their students’ efforts in this area.”
The morning, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, is set aside for field trips by students at the participating schools.
The gala opens to the public in the evening, running from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
