The Claresholm branch of the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual poppy campaign began on Friday, Oct. 27, with the first poppy. At left is Doug MacPherson, mayor of Claresholm having a poppy pinned on by Margaret Smith, Legion president. Poppies will be on sale around town until the Remembrance Day service on Nov. 11.
The Claresholm Peewee Raiders won the “B” division in the Southern Alberta Minor Football Association by defeating the Lethbridge Junior Coyotes by a score of 8-6 on Monday, Oct. 30, at the University of Lethbridge Community field. Aftermath – Firefighters from three fire departments – Claresholm, Granum, and Fort Macleod – battled a house fire blaze in Granum from 1 a.m. until morning on Oct. 22.
