Vacation Bible School has another successful summer

It was an opportunity to have some fun, play games, do crafts and hear the word of God.
Vacation Bible School took place from Aug. 22 to 26 at Faith Community Baptist Church and was a rousing success, reaching the maximum number of children with 48.
This year’s leaders were Meagan West, Matt Hirch, and Chris Slevin.
“It’s gone pretty well,” Hirch said. “It was awesome.”
The goal is to reach out to children in the community.
“Introduce them first to experience God’s story,” Hirch said. “Make a good learning experience for our kids and have fun.”
They seemed to reach that goal.
“We’ve had a ton of community kids,” Hirch said. “It has been a really good experience.”
In addition to the games and bouncey castle outside, there were several stations children visited in rotation.
Kid Video Cinema, held in a tent, showed the life of a child who’s been through struggles and made it through with the help of the Lord.
Bible Adventures took children through a story from Scripture and made it real for them.
In the Imagination Station, children made some gadget or did some experiment. For example, one day children made slime.
The Oasis was the snack station were children had a chance to re-fuel.
The Sing and Play Celebration, held in the church’s sanctuary, brings all the children and leaders together for a song and dance.
Slevin said all the stations encompass the lesson from the Bible for that day.
She said the children seemed to enjoy it, and were sad Friday was the last day.
“Kids look forward to it every year,” Slevin said. “It’s like a summer Christmas (for them).
Vacation Bible School would like to expand, but organizers will need more volunteers to make that happen.
