Enjoy this Thursday night in Amundsen Park

Claresholm’s annual Fair Days weekend actually gets going tomorrow night, Aug. 6, in downtown Amundsen Park.
This year’s theme is “Road Trip to Claresholm” and entries for the bench show, or fair, will be accepted from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Claresholm Arena.
Much of the attention will be downtown starting at 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. when Fortis returns this year, with kids activities, bucket rides, an exhibit from the Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale, and more.
There will also be a charity barbecue put on by Servus Credit Union from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds are going to the Claresholm and District Bench Show.
Amundsen Park will come alive in the evening as the annual chili cook-off, put on by the Claresholm Local Press, gets going with judging at 6 p.m. This year is also a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Local Press, with newspaper-themed games to follow.
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be free sparkle tattoos, train rides and an open mic.
The train rides were a hit at Winterfest a few months ago where people sit in tubs on wheels pulled by an off-highway vehicle.
