Claresholm town council will resume hosting council open houses in two weeks.
At its June 27 meeting, council agreed to set an open house, at the new town office and multi-use community building, on Thursday, July 21, at 7 p.m. to discuss council’s strategic plan and the 2022 budget.
Chief Administrative Officer Abe Tinney said prior to the pandemic, council held quarterly open houses on relevant issues.
In the past, council held the following open houses:
• Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at the Bridges at Claresholm Golf Club, where discussions focused on the 2019 budget, the proposed new water and sewer utility bylaw and its proposed new rate structure.
• Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 41, where discussions focused on the re-design of Amundsen Park.
• Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 at the Claresholm Senior’s Drop-in Centre, where discussions focused on the new recycling program and the multi-use community buildings project.
• Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at the Claresholm Community Centre, where the focus was the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.
• Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 at the Bridges at Claresholm Golf Club, where discussions focused on the 2020 budget and the multi-use community buildings.
Tinney recommended July 21 for the next open house at the new town office and multi-use community building with the 2022 budget and council’s strategic plan as the topics.
Council then approved that recommendation.
