High school honours academic achievement with awards

Willow Creek Composite High School recognized academic achievement recently with their annual awards.
After a year where no awards were handed out in-person, the school honoured academic achievement with a celebration in the school common area on Oct. 26.
The 2021-2022 school year award winners are:
Stavely Elks Lodge #112
for Grade 7
• Parker Bishoff, Kobe Zhang, Briggs Baker, Shaya Davis, and Edyn Schmirler for highest overall average in academic subjects.
Watt and Stewart Award for Grade 8
• Syler Sabey, Henry Leishman, Rylen Guitton, and Kael Smith for highest overall average in academic subjects.
Student Council Award
for Grade 9
• Sarah Leeds and Emmitt Carlson for highest overall average in academic subjects.
Sons of Norway Award
• Ben Baker for highest overall average in Grade 9 academic subjects.
Student Council Award for Grade 10
• Chrismichael Lorenzo, Anderson Leishman, and Tianna Bishoff for highest averages in Grade 10 academic subjects.
Student Council Award for Grade 11
• Dakota Van Langen, Rachel Ling, and Zakery Challand for highest averages in Grade 11 academic subjects.
Dee Jay Home Hardware Award for carpentry
• Charlie Wollersheim for outstanding achievement in construction.
B&B Energy Fabrication Award
• Max Buhmiller for outstanding achievement in fabrication.
Claresholm Lions Club Foods Award
• Violet MacDonald and Jaimish Patel for Grade 10; Minhaz Imran and Eric Johnston for Grade 11; and Bryson Bostock and Carter Van dyke for Grade 12, for dedication in foods class and during lunch service.
Claresholm Lions Club Cosmetology Service Award
• Lydianna O’Neil for outstanding achievement in cosmetology service.
WCCHS Personal Excellence Award
• Caleb Baker; Keegan Scott; Wyatt Pittet; Arianna Whisselle; Max Buhmiller; and Destiny Jennings who show remarkable growth in their ability to demonstrate their learning and personal integrity.
Sparta House Warrior Award
• Dominic Anderson for a Grade 11 student who shows great tenacity and who has persevered in their Grade 11 year despite significant barriers.
Willow Creek Bus Drivers Career and Technology Studies Award
• Jillian Nelson for a rural Grade 12 student from Stavely, Claresholm or Granum who achieved the most Career and Technology Studies credits.
Kinsmen Humanities Award
• Haley Vandenberg, Ashley Rathgeber, and Mya Lobreau for highest averages in English 10-1, 20-1, 30-1 and Social Studies 10-1, 20-1, 30-1.
Kinettes Humanities Award
• Seth Toone, Spencer Lewis, and Damian Gibson Morrison for highest averages in English 10-2, 20-2, 30-2 and Social Studies 10-2, 20-2, 30-2.
Chamber of Commerce Work Experience Award
• Tianna Bishoff for highest mark and recommendations in work experience placement.
Claresholm Lions Club and Sabey and Co. Grade 12 Achievement Award
• Ashley Rathgeber and Eric DePeuter for students with the second and third highest averages in select Grade 12 academic subjects.
Livingstone Range School Division Award
• Mya Lobreau and Trevor Vandenberg for highest average in select Grade 12 academic subjects and the highest average in CTS modules.
WCCHS Cafeteria Service Award
• Arianna Whisselle presented to the student who performs with professionalism and courtesy during cafeteria service during lunch.
Governor General’s Academic Medal
• Mya Lobreau for highest overall average in Grades 11 and 12.
Jim and Mertie Chilton Science Frankie Opp Award
• Ashley Rathgeber for highest academic average in the sciences.
Independent Order of Odd Fellows Award
• Jillian Nelson for the Stavely resident for one year and currently on the honour roll.
Claresholm Arts Society Bursary
• Thaniel Franz for outstanding commitment and dedication to the arts in Claresholm.
