Fundraising barbecue drive-through this year

The Claresholm and District Health Foundation will host a fundraisng barbecue downtown next week with a twist – it will be drive-through this year.
The event, which was cancelled last year to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16.
In order to abide by health guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus, the event is drive-through style this year.
People will remain in their vehicles and drive north on Third Street West and turn right, or east, onto 50th Avenue where the barbecue will be set up and further instructions on how to proceed will be given.
The menu features burgers, double burgers, ball park hot dogs, and four choices of drinks.
“We’re trying to keep the menu simple so we can make this new drive-through style move as smoothly as possible,” said Tara Bishoff, coordinator of the health foundation.
Every burger will have mustard and ketchup on them already, so people with allergies will have to request plain burgers when they order.
“We’re so excited,” Bishoff said. “It’s the first fundraiser we’ve been able to have since the pandemic.”
Proceeds from the event will go to the cost of stretchers with scales; wayfinding signs at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre; transport chairs; and ceiling lifts.
“We’d love to have people come out, have lunch and support the excellence of health care in the community,” Bishoff said.
She added that, with the increased attention on health measures to prevent the spread of the virus, more volunteers are welcome to help out.
