Crop fire

The Claresholm, Stavely, Granum, Nanton and Fort Macleod Fire Departments, with a total of 40 firefighters, were called out to a crop fire on Aug. 18 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Range Road 254 and Township Road 114, said Kelly Starling, the Municipal District of Willow Creek’s emergency services manager. They arrived on scene to discover about 150 acres engulfed in flames. “Within a few hours we were able to extinguish the fire,” he said. “With the help of the neighbours and volunteers they played a huge part in containing it.” No one was injured and the cause was farming equipment.
