Everyone welcome to community badminton

By Rob Vogt, Local Press Writer

If you are interested in playing badminton, a new program has started to give you the opportunity.

People of all ages are welcome to play, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the gym in Willow Creek Composite High School.

If that gym is unavailable, community badminton will move over to the gym at West Meadow Elementary School, as it did last week when Willow Creek Composite High School hosted its second annual spring showcase.

All the equipment from racquets and birds, to nets, is also provided. People are asked to wear appropriate gym attire and non-marking shoes. There is a $2 drop-in fee, but all proceeds go back to the schools.

Community badminton is the vision of Tanner Ling, a community member who sees a need.

“I talked with a lot of people,” he said, noting they haven’t been able to find a place to play badminton after they finished high school.

Ling wants to change that.

“I’m trying to run a program to give people an opportunity to play some more badminton,” he said.

Community badminton will run until the end of the school year in June.
