Custom Cannabis receives cultivation, medical sales licences

Custom Cannabis is one step closer to being open for business to bring medical cannabis to patients.

On Aug. 1, they advised the public that Health Canada granted Custom Cannabis its cultivation licence and medical sales licence.

“It’s exciting,” said Jeff Nielsen, co-founder and chief executive officer of Custom Cannabis.

The cultivation licence allows Custom Cannabis to begin growing plants, and the medical sales licence allows for the sale of plants and seeds directly to patients.

Nielsen said the construction and government inspections are done and the mother plants are in the greenhouse.

“The plants are happy under the greenhouse and growing super fast,” Nielsen said, adding these sunny Southern Alberta days do well for the plants. “We’re really pleased with the feedback the plants are giving us.”

The next four to six months will be spent incrementally increasing the plant count.

“So far we couldn’t be happier,” Nielsen said. “Everything is going so great.”

Health Canada requires that all cannabis growers obtain a licence before they begin growing plants.

According to a news release, Custom Cannabis is a Canadian medicinal cannabis producer growing cannabis for the world in Claresholm.

They operate a 45,000 square feet purpose-built greenhouse, with plans to grow to 65,000 square feet in the next phase of construction.

The facility is designed to leverage nature’s elements for natural cannabis production, resulting in the highest quality medical cannabis for the empowerment of patients on their journey toward wellness.
