Playing smart

The Claresholm RCMP would like to notify the public that bicycle thefts are increasing.
The police have received numerous complaints about the theft of bicycles in and around the Town of Claresholm. The stolen bicycles are generally the BMX style.
The RCMP would like to remind the public of some simple steps to secure their bicycles:
- Ensure the bike is locked up when not in use.
- Keep the bike in a well lit area if storing it outside.
- If you are storing the bike indoors, ensure access to the storage unit is secured.
- Please note any markings on the bike, such as serial numbers or distinguishing characteristics.
- If there are no serial numbers on the bike, create one and put it on several inconspicuous spots.
Police say while some of the bicycle thefts are brazen, most are taken at opportunistic moments.
Remember to safeguard your property.
