Jail and bail this weekend for junior prom
By Rob Vogt, Local Press Writer
Junior prom has taken eight community leaders captive, dubbed “The Goodwill Gang”, and it is up to everyone to free them. It is all part of a Jail ‘n Bail taking place at IGA this Saturday, March 31, starting at high noon when The Goodwill Gang will be arrested and taken to jail at the IGA.
“The RCMP are on board to arrest the eight individuals in question,” said Sean Kelly who, along with Jason Hemmaway, are organizing the event.
These eight individuals will be in jail from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A minimum bail of $100 has been set for each individual, but the more money paid the better. There will be a separate slot for each gang member where people can pay a part of the bail, and a running tally will be kept.
Proceeds from the event will go to junior prom at Willow Creek Composite High School, to offset the costs of prom such as hall rental.
Prom candidates will be on hand to help out, including collecting the money.
“They’re going to be the jailers,” Kelly said.
The Goodwill Gang, and the reasons they have been arrested are:
• Mayor Doug MacPherson, arrested for failure to read the fine print;
• Kieth Carlson, arrested for causing addiction to oversized cinnamon buns;
• Barbara Bell, arrested for killing people with kindness;
• Natalie Wright, arrested for invading Claresholm with enthusiasm and hope;
• Santanna Thom, arrested for importing aliens into the community;
• Beth Roemmele, arrested for lining the pockets of community events;
• Todd Heggie, arrested for running red lights in pursuit of smoke and fire;
• Jason Hemmaway, arrested for having too much fun in life and smiling too much.
