The Claresholm Community Singers had all 38 choir members performing at the Christ the King Roman Catholic Church Church Thursday and Sunday, April 26 and 29, in their last performance of the full choir until perhaps Christmas.

About 300 people came out to the church performance.

“The sound was magnificent,” said choir director John Vandenbeld. “It is quite rare we get the full choir together, all 38 members. They were in full voice.”

Father Tim Boyle said the acoustics in the church are “quite good.”

The Claresholm Community Singers followed that up with a performance at the Willow Creek Continuing care Centre with about 20 singers, enough to fill the venue.

The songs sung included We Will Walk in the Light, Blue Skies, Fields of Gold, Angels Carry Me Home, Flying Free, and a solo performance on guitar by Tom O’Dell.

The choir has been performing in Claresholm for 24 years.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 10, the choir will perform a special concert in Fort Macleod at the Rosewood Villa for a senior that is now immobilized but was, in her day, a very good musician, playing organ and loving music.

There are expected to be about 24 people in the audience for the very special private performance.
