Claresholm Chamber unveils stamp, post cards

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the new post cards and stamp unveiled by the Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce to promote the area speak volumes.

The chamber now has six different post cards and one stamp available for purchase by businesses and individuals.

The motivation for the post cards and stamp came from a perceived lack of souvenirs of Claresholm.

“We thought it would be a good way to promote our community,” said Amanda Zimmer, president of the chamber of commerce.

The art for both was obtained through two contests the chamber held. The stamp contest invited entries from the public and through the schools for children to enter their artwork. The winner was Samantha Ocampo, 6, who is entering Grade 1 at West Meadow Elementary School. She is the daughter of Christian and Diane Ocampo. Her picture is a water colour painting of Centennial Park, with a view from the spray park looking at the playground.

The photo contest was held on the chamber’s social media page, inviting people to submit original photos they thought represented the district. The winning photos were by Laird Biteranta, who had two; Betty Fieguth, who also had two; and Maurice Beebe.

There are also photos from Davina Berger; Verne Cook; Lisa Elsom-Vosburgh; Sarah Green; Maxine Middleton; Claudia Nehring; Jim Simpson; and Kendell White on the post cards. Each post card, including a stamp on it already, retails for $3.

They are available at the Claresholm Local Press; Claresholm Pharmacy; and Gratitude.

Anyone interested in more information, or carrying the post cards and stamps, can contact Amanda Zimmer, chamber president, at 403-625-4474.
