Claresholm and District Chamber to hold postage stamp contest

What better item to go with the Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce’s new postcard than a matching chamber of commerce stamp?
At their April 18 meeting, chamber members agreed to set up a sub-committee made up of directors Keith Armstrong and Todd Buhmiller to oversee a contest seeking artwork for the stamp.
Armstrong introduced the idea and presented what he found in his research talking to Canada Post.
Canada Post has a process where someone can submit a drawing or photo for a stamp.
“It would nicely complement the postcard,” Armstrong said, alluding to a contest the chamber is already running seeking local, original photos for chamber postcards.
Where a standard booklet of stamps is about $10, the customized one costs just over $17, with a minimum purchase of three booklets.
“They said they’d be happy to do it for us,” Armstrong said.
Consequently, chamber members agreed to hold a 2018 Claresholm and District Chamber of Commerce postage stamp contest.
It seeks artwork featuring, “My Claresholm”, that is something that represents Claresholm to the student.
There will be three categories for elementary, junior and high school students.
The winner in each category will be turned into a postage stamp that can be purchased locally and used to mail a letter or package.
The entry deadline is June 1, and entries can be submitted to Todd Buhmiller at Widescreen Media Design and Embroidery.
