RCMP respond to threat at Willow Creek Composite High school
By Rob Vogt
The Claresholm RCMP responded to a suspected bomb threat at Willow Creek Composite High School on Monday, May 11, but there was no need for evacuation and the authorities have identified the person responsible.
The school sent an e-mail to parents explaining that students reported another threat written in a bathroom stall at Willow Creek Composite High School.
As a result of the increased preventative measures implemented following previous incidents – including increased supervision and regular documented bathroom checks – school staff were able to quickly identify the student responsible and confirm there was no threat to students or staff in the school.
During the investigation, it was also confirmed this individual was responsible for the previous unresolved threats made at the school.
The matter is now being addressed through both law enforcement and school division processes.
It was noted the safety and well-being of students and staff remains the school’s highest priority.
While situations such as this are concerning, the school is appreciative of its students for reporting this in a timely manner and of the efforts of staff in helping maintain a safe school environment.
Parents were also advised that should they have any questions or concerns, to not hesitate to contact the school.
