Lila Doreen Peterson passed away with family by her side on September 25, 2026 at the Claresholm General Hospital.
Lila will be greatly missed by her husband of 71 years, William (Bill) Peterson, daughter Leslie, and sons Eric and Mark (Sharon). She is also survived by grandchildren Krisadda, Jonas, Sharon, Nellie, Brandon, Hailey, Kelsey, and Jesse, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Lila was predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Myrtle Bawtinheimer, brother Neil Bawtinheimer, and grandson Riley Peterson.
Lila was born in Red Deer, Alberta and lived there until 1955, when she married her beloved husband, Bill, and moved to a farm in Mossleigh, Alberta. The young family moved to Claresholm in 1966.
Lila had a lifelong love of reading and volunteered for 30 years at the Claresholm Public Library. When she wasn’t reading, she was making beautiful quilts and tending to her garden.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the nurses and doctors at the Claresholm General Hospital for the exceptional care they provided while she was there.
At Lila’s request, there will be no funeral service, but the family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
