Junior golf wraps up successful second season

Junior golf is alive and well and thriving at the Bridges at Claresholm Golf Club.
Chad Zentner started junior golf last year with six players. That number grew to 12 this year.
“It’s been really good,” he said.
Zentner’s approach is slightly different.
He does not focus on how to shoot but, instead, takes players on the course and shoots a round with them.
There, he shows them different shots, course etiquette, and much more.
“I teach them everything else about the game,” Zentner said. “The kids love it.”
The idea dates back to when Zentner was growing up.
He was a member of a junior league in Picture Butte. His dad would drop him off, Zentner would play all day, then go home.
“It was awesome,” Zentner said. “I learned so much.”
Now he wants to give back to the next generation of golfers.
“I want to teach them a love for the game, before I teach them all the rules,” he said.
Junior golf starts when school ends, and runs through the summer.
Most participants have their own clubs but, if someone doesn’t have any, the golf course has clubs to rent.
The season has now concluded, but Zentner will be back again next year with junior golf.
All youths 12 years of age or older are welcome to join.
