Baseball Cobras shut out Vulcan

The Willow Creek Composite High School baseball team turned in a dominating performance in a win against Vulcan last week.
The Cobras hosted the County Central High School Hawks at Millennium Park on Tuesday, April 15, winning by a score of 11-0.
Zak Wright struck out 14 batters to lead the Cobras, giving up one hit and no runs over five innings while walking one.
The Cobras scored six runs in the sixth inning on the way to victory.
Cal Schmid drew a walk, scoring one run; Easton Wright was struck by a pitch, driving in another run; Carson Ring grounded out, scoring one run; Preston McLeod tripled, scoring two runs; and August Litchfield singled, scoring one run.
A single by Sam Van Rootselaar started the scoring for the Cobras in the bottom of the fourth inning.
McLeod also threw one inning of shutout ball for the Cobras in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking two.
McLeod went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in.
Micah Rice led the Cobras with two hits in two at bats.
Schmid paced the Cobras with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
Keegan Scott and Van Rootselaar each stole multiple bases for the Cobras, while the team stole six bases in total.
The Cobras did not commit a single error in the field, with Wright having the most chances in the field with eight.
