Remembrance Day service at community centre
By Rob Vogt
Volunteers are busy planning a community Remembrance Day service for Nov. 11.
The service will take place in the Claresholm Community Centre on Monday, Nov. 11, with doors opening at 10 a.m. and the service starting at 11 a.m. sharp.
It will be the first community-wide Remembrance Day service since 2019, the year before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of many community events.
The service will be emceed by Leonard Weiss, president of Claresholm Branch No. 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and feature the colour guard from the Royal Canadian Legion, two minutes of silence, prayers, the playing of “Reveille”, the laying of wreaths, musical selections by the Claresholm Community Singers and John Vandenbeld, and much more.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and the Legion will be open after the service with coffee and donuts.
