Claresholm RCMP report for the month of September
The following complaints/calls for service were made to the Claresholm RCMP Detachment during the month of September, 2024. Not every call/file is listed below, but just the most relevant ones. Some complaints received were later determined to being unfounded or not police matters.
Traffic related
• One reported non-fatal traffic collision.
• Seven reportable traffic collisions, with one charge laid.
• Four reports of non-reportable traffic collisions.
• One complaint of failing to stop/remain at an accident scene.
• Five reports of speeding, with four charges laid.
• Fourteen complaints of other moving traffic violations, with two charges laid.
• Twelve complaints of other non-moving traffic violations, with nine charges laid.
• One report of intersection-related violations.
• One report of insurance coverage violations, with one charge laid.
• Two reports of driving without due care and attention, with one charge laid.
• Five written traffic warnings.
Impaired operation related offences
• One complaint involving a possible impaired driver.
Other provincial statutes
• Three reported 911 Act offences.
• Two complaints under other provincial statutes (unspecified) offences.
• One complaint under other provincial statutes (unspecified) other activities.
• One complaint under the Child Welfare Act.
• Thirteen complaints under the Mental Health Act.
• One complaint under municipal bylaws – traffic related.

• Two complaints of causing a disturbance.
• One complaint of explosives, using/possessing with the intent to destroy property.

• Two complaints of criminal harassment.
• Five complaints of harassing communications.
• Four complaints of uttering threats, with one charge laid.
Property/fraud offences
• Five complaints of theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle.
• One complaint of theft of bicycle.
• Four complaints of theft under $5,000.
• One complaint of theft under $5,000, shoplifting.
• Four complaints of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
• Six complaints of mischief/damage to property.
• Nine complaints of mischief/enjoyment of property.
• Three complaints of fraud over $5,000.
• Six complaints of fraud less than $5,000.
• One complaint of a break and enter to a business.
Drug offences
• One complaint under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• One complaint of trafficking cocaine.
Other police activities
• Three complaints involving suspicious persons/vehicles/property.
• Three complaints of abandoned vehicles.
• Five animal-related calls.
• Eight false alarm calls.
• Three lost/found property calls.
• Six complaints of breach of peace.
• Eight requests for wellbeing checks.
• Two complaints of missing persons.
• Two calls for assistance to the general public.
In total, there were 225 calls/requests for service for August, 2024 with 210 of those calls being deemed as founded complaints.
