Claresholm RCMP report for the month of August

The following complaints/calls for service were made to the Claresholm RCMP Detachment during the month of August, 2024. Not every call/file is listed below, but just the most relevant ones. Some complaints received were later determined to being unfounded or not police matters.
Traffic related
• Four reportable traffic collisions, with one charge laid.
• One report of a non-reportable traffic collision.
• Two complaints of failing to stop/remain at an accident scene, with one charge laid.
• Seven reports of speeding, with six charges laid.
• Twenty-two complaints of other moving traffic violations, with two charges laid.
• Seven complaints of other non-moving traffic violations, with six charges laid.
• Two reports of intersection related violations, with one charge laid.
• One report of insurance coverage violations, with one charge laid.
• Two reports of driving without due care and attention, with one charge laid.
• One report of failing to stop for police (flight), with no pursuit initiated, and one charge laid.
• Three written traffic warnings.
Impaired operation related offences
• One incident involving a driver failing or refusing to provide a breath sample.

• Two reported 911 Act offences.
• One complaint under the Liquor Act, offences, provincial, with one charge laid.
• One complaint under the Liquor Act, other activities.
• Four complaints under other provincial statutes, unspecified, offences.

• One complaint of administering a noxious thing.

• Two complaints of theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle.
• One complaint of theft of truck.

• Two complaints of theft under $5,000.
• One complaint of theft under $5,000, shoplifting.
• One complaint of possession of stolen property over $5,000, with one charge laid.
• Nine complaints of mischief/damage to property.

Drug offences
• One complaint related to possession of methamphetamine (crystal meth).
Other police activities
• Thirteen complaints involving suspicious persons/vehicles/property.
• Six complaints of abandoned vehicles.
• Eight animal-related calls.
• Five false alarm calls.
• Three lost/found property calls.
• Two complaints of breach of peace.
• Seven requests for wellbeing checks.
• Two complaints of missing persons.
In total, there were 218 calls/requests for service for August, 2024 with 211 of those calls being deemed as founded complaints.
