Fraser, Muriel Logan

Lovingly remembered by her family, we announce that our mother, Muriel Logan Fraser, passed away October 14, 2023 at the age of 92, in the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm.
She is survived by her children Jim (Sandy), Larry (Pam), Jackie (Chuck Clark), Doug (Jan), Laurie (Randy Lyckman), and Ken; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Doris McDonnel and Laura (Trevor Orr), two brothers Roy and Melvin, as well as two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Hopkins and Shirley Anderson. She was predeceased by her husband Len in 2010, her daughter Cindy (Eldon Hubka) in 2021, her parents Wilfred and Minnie (Cox) Logan, and brothers Kenneth, Stanley and Vaughn.
Muriel was born September 5, 1931 at the family farm in Jarvie, Alberta. After she finished her grade 12, in June 1949, she moved to the Barons area to work, which is where she met and married Len Fraser in 1951. They lived in Edwardsville and Garden Plains where Jim, Larry, Jackie and Doug were born. In 1957 the family moved back to Carmangay where Laurie, Cindy and Ken were all born, and where Len and Muriel remained until 2008 when they moved to Lethbridge for health reasons. She devoted several of her last years looking after Len as his health deteriorated. Muriel lived in Lethbridge after Len’s passing, later moving into the Porcupine Hills Lodge in Claresholm until she was admitted to the auxiliary hospital in December of 2021.
Muriel worked as a ward aide at the Carmangay Hospital from December 1960 until her retirement in 1996. She always kept busy sewing, cooking, canning, quilting, and any other handiwork she had learned. Muriel loved it when her family all came home and filled the house with noise, laughter and chaos.
A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Carmangay Community Center, which was still “home” to them both.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
