Munro, Barry Dean

Dec. 5, 1962 – April 5, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Barry Munro.
Barry was born in Claresholm, AB, on December 5, 1962, and died on April 5, 2022, in Granum, AB.
Barry grew up and attended school in Granum and after grade 9 attended the Claresholm high school. Barry loved basketball and baseball and excelled at both, and many hours were spent with the other kids in Granum playing football, “kick the can” and
“anti-I-over”.
Barry loved to visit with people, and was always smiling. Although he suffered with physical difficulties, he never complained.
Barry was an elevator agent with the Alberta Wheat Pool and then Viterra for many years and worked in Barons, Cluny, Indus, Cereal, Carseland, Delia and Stettler. In early 2000 while dealing with some health issues, he moved back to Granum. In 2010 Barry became the caretaker at the Granum school, a job he loved and he was loved by the students and staff. Barry often helped out with the Granum basketball teams, community suppers and anywhere else he was needed.
Impaired by physical difficulties he had to give up his caretaking position, however he was determined to return if at all possible.
Barry will be dearly missed by his siblings, Brenda Sanders, Donna (Gord) Schwindt, Randy Munro, Sharon Monical, Brad Munro, Janice Munro and Dallas Munro; many nephews, one niece, great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins; and best friends James and Bernice Postman.
Barry was predeceased by his dad, Alan Munro; his mom, Rose Munro, as well as his brother-in-law Jim Sanders.
The community of Granum loved, supported and respected Barry and we are very grateful.
Thank you to James and Bernice Postman, and Leonard and Eleanor Rondeau for all their love and support.
Thank you to Zentner Funeral Homes for their support and assistance during this difficult time.
