Potuzak, Barbara

POTUZAK, Barbara Anne, of Claresholm, AB, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2021 at South Campus Hospital in Calgary. She leaves behind her dear children: son, Garnet Potuzak (Sylvia), granddaughters Brooke & Brie of Calgary, daughter Traci Chiasson of Surrey, B.C., her sister and sister-in-law, Shirley and Sharon Minogue of Claresholm, plus sister and brother-in-law Margaret & Chuck Linn of Calgary, and many treasured nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Barb was predeceased by her loving husband Charles, grandson Michael, mother Violet, father Maynard, brothers Earl and Wayne.
Barb was born on May 19, 1939 in Eston, SK. and raised on the farm near Tyner, SK. She attended a small country school near the farm, then High School in Rosetown, SK. Barb then moved to Calgary and attended U of C to become a teacher. It was here she met Charlie Potuzak, they were married October 8, 1960 and enjoyed 43 years together until Charlie passed away in 2003.
Barb then relocated to Claresholm, AB where she became an integral part of the community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels and on the Board of the Claresholm Seniors Centre. She grew the most beautiful gardens, was an avid reader and enjoyed a good game of cards. Barb liked to watch the deer in the farmer’s field behind her home as it reminded her of growing up in Saskatchewan. She was an awesome cook and loved having family dinners using Grandma Minogue’s fine china. Barb had a great sense of humor which she passed onto her children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter.
Thank you to Dr. Smith at the Clinic for his many years caring for Barb., the staff at Claresholm Hospital for her many visits there and the Drs. and staff at South Campus for caring for her during her last days.
