Lucas, Judy

Our precious Mother Judy gained her angel wings peacefully on Wednesday, September 22 2021, at Claresholm, Alberta at just 70 years old. Judy’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her presence understand that the imprint she left on our hearts exceeded her time with us.
Judy is predeceased by her husband, Wayne; and her mother, Margaret. Wayne and Judy’s legacy is survived by their four children, Marla (Maury) and children, Ashton (Cassia), Amanda (Austin), and Reegan; Brett (Caro) and children, Chance, Zackary, and Felicity; Flint (Elise) and children, Sutton, and Maybry; Rustin (Aaron) and children, Conner, Colson and Westin. Judy is also survived by her father, Larry Umscheid; and siblings: Randy, Kevin, Cindy, Kendal and their families.
Judy grew up in Milo, attending school there until Grade 11. Her graduation year was completed in Vulcan before heading to SAIT in Calgary where she became a floral designer. Judy married her Cowboy, William Wayne Lucas in 1971. They lived briefly in Pincher Creek, then Vulcan before settling west of Claresholm in God’s country at Lucasia Ranch. Judy loved the ranch and raising her family there. She loved spending time with her animals – her cats, dogs and birds of all kinds. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and scrapbooking. Judy was an accomplished shopper, and an avid traveller. In more recent years, she became a very talented quilter, gifting every person in her family a stunning quilt! Judy was all about family, her extended family, her Church family, her Trout Creek family, and through the 20+ years of their ranch vacations business, she also became “family” to guests from around the world! She really had an incredible passion to better her community and bring people together. Her door was always open, food was on the table, and she always greeted you with open arms. That is how we will remember her.
Due to Covid restrictions a Private service was held. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Claresholm and District Health Foundation, Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta, T0L 0T0. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
