Jess, Betty Lynne (nee Brown)

November 1935 – April 2021
Betty went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and her beloved husband Don, in the presence of her family on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at
St. Michael’s Long-Term Care Centre in Edmonton, following a long battle with dementia made all the more lonely over the past year by Covid-19 restrictions.
Betty was born in Calgary and married Don in 1955. Their children were born in Calgary, and the family moved to Claresholm in 1966 where Betty and Don were active in the community. In 1986 Betty and Don moved to Morinville, and then Edmonton where they were active in their church.
In addition to the love of her life Don, who passed suddenly in 1994, Betty was predeceased by her mother Emily (1970), father Ted (1984), father-in-law Jim (1984),
mother-in-law Margaret (1990), step-mother Bea (2006), and brother Barry (2018).
Betty is survived by her children – Kevan (Carolyn), Jill (Omer) Dechaine, Lee (Bill) Peters and Susan (Mike) Landgrebe; eleven grandchildren – Mark (Erin) Jess, Rhea (Elias) Sanchez, Sean Jess (Maddie Graham), Roland (Terry) Dechaine, Rachel (Joel) Vallée, Ashley Dechaine, Curtis Dechaine, Luke (Stefani) Peters, Lindsey (Cody) Kaupp, Matthew (Sarah) Landgrebe and Benjamin (Deanna) Landgrebe, plus her twelve great-grandchildren – Trevor, Cole, Reid, Rhys, Kenidi, Jessica, Mireille, Levi, Kara, Baxter, Margaret and Sydney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Thelma Brown.
Keeping with Mom’s wishes her earthly body has been provided to the Anatomical Gifts Program at the University of Alberta for teaching and research.
Betty’s family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to ALL the second-floor staff at St. Michael’s for the excellent professional and compassionate care they provided Mom these last months. We are truly grateful to have been with her during the last week of her life.
A family celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
