Dunlop, Alfred

It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred Dunlop announce his passing on August 27, 2021. Alfred was born in Claresholm on December 20, 1935. He was raised on the family farm just east of Granum. He married Pat Baird in 1959. Alf and Pat continued farming and ranching west of Granum. They raised two children, a daughter Joanne (Pincher Creek), and a son Blaine who continues the farming operation west of Granum.
Alf was very passionate about the farm and ranch. He built a lasting legacy to pass onto his family. He loved the sport of hockey and was an avid hockey player. Alf played for Granum, Fort Macleod Broncs, Claresholm Clippers and the Foothills Oldtimers.
Alf supported and was actively involved with whatever Joanne and Blaine chose to do. Upon the arrival of grandchildren, Alf enjoyed their sports and activities and most recently enjoyed the
great-grandchildren and their activities.
Alfred is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Joanne (Tim) Dennis, granddaughters Danielle (Nolan) Walsh, Morgan (Tyson) Gruninger. Great granddaughters Keely and Sloan Walsh. Son, Blaine (Jodi), grandchildren Marlee (Derek) Sears, Kendra (Martha), and Carsen, great-grandsons Rhett and Finn Sears.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents John and Lillian Dunlop, brothers John-Francis and Ron, sister-in-law Charlene Dunlop and brother-in-law Jim Kucharski. He is also survived by his siblings Marcella Kucharski, Ray (Florence) Dunlop, Roy (Shirle) Dunlop, Alvin (Jean) Dunlop, Marie (Jim) Canfield.
At Alfred’s request, the family will hold a private memorial service.
