The Municipal District of Willow Creek will receive just under $1 million for a stormwater management plan in the Hamlet of Granum.
The M.D. council received the good news at their Oct. 14 meeting in a report from Chief Administrative Officer Derrick Krizsan.
The report stated notification has been received an additional grant of $919,752.00 has been awarded to the M.D. of Willow Creek for the completion of the Hamlet of Granum Stormwater project planned for 2021.
Granum is subject to overland flooding arising from storm events. Over the past decade many studies have been conducted.
The $1.5 million project will be funded from a previously announced Alberta Community Resilience Program grant of $532,488 and the $919,752 grant recently announced by Alberta Environment and Parks.
Krizsan said this is great news for Granum, noting the benefits go outside Granum to landowners there as well.
