Health foundation gala raises almost $5,000

They had to do things differently this year, but the Claresholm and District Health Foundation persevered with their annual gala, making $5,000 this year to meet emerging local health-care needs.
In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the foundation made available meals people could purchase online and pick up at Casa Roma on Nov. 21.

“It went wonderfully,” said Tara Bishoff, coordinator for the foundation. “It was safe and distanced and fun. Everybody was happy with their meals and their service, and able to support the foundation in a new, creative way.”
She observed some people bought multiple meals and delivered them to others.

“It seemed to be a nice fit for the climate we’re in,” Bishoff said of this year’s gala. “We’re super grateful for the support.
“There was outstanding support from the entire community.”
She was also impressed with the sales for the cash draw tickets.

A total of 969 of 1,000 tickets were sold.
“Which is phenomenal,” Bishoff said.
Proceeds from the event went to two projects the foundation is supporting – digital upgrades for the x-ray department at Claresholm General Hospital; and two stretcher scales.
The most recent fundraiser for the foundation was at Davis Chevrolet on Friday, Nov. 27, where people could have their oil changed for free for a $50 donation to the foundation.
A total of $1,300 was raised for the day.
