There will be a new face greeting students at Willow Creek Composite High School when they return to classes in September, as the school welcomes a new principal.
The Livingstone Range School Division recently announced Jackie Kark, the current principal of Granum School and alternate programs, home education, has been appointed principal at Willow Creek Composite High School, starting in the 2019-2020 school year.
She is a graduate of the University of Alberta, majoring in biological sciences and minoring in career and technology studies in business technology, and received her masters of secondary education from the University of Alberta.
Kark has also been principal at Kinuso School, a Kindergarten to Grade 12 facility, in northern Alberta.
According to information from the school division, over her career, Kark has demonstrated a strong commitment to building effective relationships in the school community.
Superintendent Darryl Seguin said Kark takes a collaborative problem-solving approach and is student-centered.
“Where others see barriers Jackie sees an opportunity,” he said. “I believe her leadership style and junior high/high school experience will serve the Willow Creek Composite High School and community well.”
Kark, a believer that every student can be successful in his or her own way, is excited to get to know the community of Claresholm and the staff and students at WCCHS.
“I am an advocate for student-centered and individualized learning opportunities and programs,” she said. “I look forward to bringing my experience and ideas to meet the needs of the WCCHS community and will continue to build upon all of the great programming all ready happening at WCCHS.”
