October 15, 1941 – April 24, 2019

Vernon Stewart beloved husband of Virginia (nee Olmstead) passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019 at the age of 77 years at the Claresholm General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Virginia; son Gordon, granddaughter Sheri Ann (Dave) Zuidhof, great-grandson Joel; sister Eileen (Dale) Vadnais; brothers-in-law Lyle (Jackie) Olmstead, Wes (Jean) Olmstead, sisters-in-law Jurene Olmstead and Sharon Stewart as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Vernon is predeceased by son Curtis and daughter Rhonda; brother Dale; and parents Ansel and Esther.
Vernon was an avid big game hunter and fisherman. He loved to go camping as well. He worked at the Claresholm Care Centre for 35 years and also worked at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. Vernon made many friends and he will be sadly missed, especially by his hunting buddies.
The Funeral Service will be held at WILLOW CREEK FUNERAL HOME (4079-1ST Street West, Claresholm) on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Donna Alm officiating. The Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.
