Provincial election called for April 16

Voters in Alberta will go to the polls in just under a month to elect a new provincial government.
On Tuesday, March 19, Premier Rachel Notley called the election just a day after her government delivered their speech from the throne.
The election will be held on April 16, and voters in Livingstone-Macleod, the riding that encompasses Claresholm, Stavely, Granum and the Municipal District of Willow Creek, will have a wide variety of candidates to choose from, in alphabetical order by last name:
- Cam Gardner, New Democratic Party;
- Dylin Hauser, Alberta Liberal Party;
- Tim Meech, Alberta Party;
- Roger Reid, United Conservative Party;
- Vern Sparkes, Independent.
At dissolution the governing NDP held 52 of the 87 seats; the United Conservative Party held 25 seats; the Alberta Party had three seats; there were three independent seats; the Alberta Liberal Party held one seat; the Freedom Conservative Party had one seat; the Progressive Conservative Party had one seat; and one seat was vacant.
