High school locked down; individual charged

The Claresholm RCMP have charged one youth in connection with an incident at Willow Creek Composite High School that led to the school being locked down for about an hour last week.
On Tuesday, March 14 at around 12:23 p.m. Claresholm RCMP responded to an assault that had occurred at Willow Creek Composite High School.
A male youth, who had been suspended from the school, had attended the location.
When he was told to leave the school grounds by a male staff member he assaulted the staff member.
The student then left the scene.
The school was placed in a lock down to ensure the continued safety of the students. The lock down was lifted within an hour as the youth had been located by RCMP and was in custody.
There were no serious injuries to the staff member.
The youth has been charged with one count of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000. He has been released from custody and will appear at Fort Macleod Youth Court.
