A Claresholm town councillor is donating the money she makes as a councillor to various community organizations.
Donna Courage began last week by making a $1,000 donation to Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services to be used for the Youth of Tomorrow, girls’ group, and other youth-oriented initiatives.
Courage describes it as “Paying it forward” to your community.
“I challenge every Claresholmian to take up the challenge to do at least three things for Claresholm,” she said. “It doesn’t have to be monetary: donate blood, visit a shut-in, help a neighbour, volunteer your time, shovel a sidewalk, pick up litter, walk with a friend, welcome a new neighbour, share a smile.
“If we all did just three nice things to pay it forward, that would be 11,340 actions, all making Claresholm an even better place to live.
“(I) look forward to seeing you share you.”
Going forward, Courage said she would like to donate quarterly to other non-profits or worthwhile causes in the town.
