Claresholm elects entirely new mayor and council

The winds of change have once again swept clean the political landscape in Claresholm as a completely new mayor and council was elected on Monday night.

When all the ballots were counted on Oct. 16, Doug MacPherson was elected mayor and six new councillors were chosen from a field of 10 that included three incumbent, or sitting councillors.

The final vote totals were (*indicates elected):

*Doug MacPherson, 554;

• Mike McAlonan, 492;

• Betty Fieguth, 479.

Council

*Brad Schlossberger, 1,072;

*Kieth Carlson, 1,071;

*Craig Zimmer, 939;

*Lise Schulze, 926;

*Gaven Moore, 662;

*Donna Courage, 637;

• Shelley Ford (incumbent), 610;

• Lyal O’Neill (incumbent), 578;

• Jamie Cutler (incumbent), 436;

• Alexander Meic, 395.

Stavely

The race for mayor in Stavely was not as close as some as anticipated as incumbent Gentry Hall won another term.
