As Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services readies to host their annual Volunteer Appreciation, they received some good news.

Volunteer Alberta has provided a grant of $500 to help offset some of the costs of the event.

The event is held during National Volunteer Week, and runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the Claresholm Community Centre.

“The town runs because of volunteers and the goodness of people to help,” said Barbara Bell, director of FCSS. “We want to make sure that they know they are appreciated.”

Tickets are free and available at Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services, but they emphasize no one can enter the hall without a ticket because there is only limited capacity.

Volunteer Appreciation will feature entertainment by the Canadian Mentalist who can bend spoons, read minds, and encourages audience participation.

Everyone is welcome to come out and celebrate volunteers, and organizations are encouraged to get a whole table for their volunteers to sit together at. There will also be light refreshments.

Anyone interested in tickets or more information can contact Claresholm and District Family and Community Support Services at 403-625-4417.
