December 13, 1922 – October 30, 2018
Tex passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on October 30th in Okotoks, Alberta. Leading up to his passing he was surrounded by all seven of his children which gave him great comfort and love. In the end he died as he lived; forever a Gentleman while holding the hand of his youngest daughter. Tex is pre-deceased by his wife Nan and is survived by his seven children & their spouses in order of birth: Helen Hover, Mitch Hover (Cheri McGowan) , Kate (Ken) Hanson, Hugh Hover (Barb Neufeld), Zoanne Schjodt (Harry Thiessen), Tracy (Neil) Hawes and Bryan (Michelle) Hover. Tex will be dearly missed by his children and 17 Grand Children.
Tex was born in Phoenix Arizona and raised in rural Colorado. After achieving his Masters Degree in Geology at the university of Missouri he worked for various oil companies over the years which took him all over North America and even Turkey. He moved to Canada and officially became a citizen in 1963 eventually moving to Claresholm Alberta where he lived for 40 years. He was well traveled, well read, loved nature, photography, geography, good Scotch and Marilyn Monroe. Tex was a cowboy at heart with a gentle soul. Dad, you always said you were a lover not a fighter and with seven children you were right. We will miss your charm, your dry humor, your ability to put a southern spin to almost any topic and your never-ending stories. You may not be present but you will always be with us.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM at Auburn House in Calgary, Alberta. All are welcome to attend to remember Tex and have a toast in his honour.
