No movement as of yet in on-going Canada Post strike

Although the post office staff in Claresholm, Stavely and Granum remain on the job, there has been no movement in the Canadian Union of Postal Workers strike against Canada Post, so the postal system remains shutdown.
On Friday, Oct. 3, Canada Post presented new offers to both the Canadian Union of Postal Workers’ urban and suburban units, saying the new agreement would “enable the company’s modernization while balancing its financial realities with fairness and respect for employees.”
A news release added “Canada Post’s critical financial situation has also worsened in the last year as CUPW’s strike action, including two national strikes, have shut down the postal system for Canadians and driven more customers to competitors.”
“We had expected that Canada Post would return to the table and make significant movement so that our members could ratify their offers,” the union countered. “Instead, it chose to use the government’s announcement last week to take major steps backwards.”
However, while it has decried the latest offers, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has said it will take the time to review the documents.
