Claresholm Arts Society receives 25 nominations

The Claresholm Arts Society has received 25 nominations for the cast and crew of its productions of “The Sound of Music” and “The Mousetrap”.
Nominations for the 2024 Community Theatre Awards (CAT) awards, which celebrate the best of community theatre in Calgary and neighbouring communities were announced on July 22, 2024.
The Claresholm Arts Society has 25 nominees in 19 categories with Calgary’s Alliance of Community Theatres.
“This is a true reflection of what talent we have in Claresholm and area, and what you can do when everyone plays their part, both on and off the stage. We couldn’t be prouder,” said Dana McLeod, president of the arts society, of the entire production team.
The nominations for “The Sound of Music” are:
• “Sound of Music”, production;
• Sharon King, direction;
• Michelle DeDominicis, musical direction;
• Stephanie King, leading role as Maria Rainer;
• Michelle DeDominicis, leading role as Mother Abbess;
• Bradshaw McClung, supporting role as Max Detweiler;
• Tracey Ohler, supporting role as Frau Schmidt;
• “Sound of Music”, chorus/ensemble;
• Dana McLeod, Laurie Watt, Lyndsay McAleer, Shelby Murphy, costume design;
• Sebastian DeDominicis, Emilea Harrison, engineering/ sound effects;
• Thaniel Franz, lighting;
• Skye Grinde (designer), John DeDominicis, Norm Foxcroft, stagecraft/set design;
• Sara Rathgeber, Ella Rathgeber, Hailey Kuntz, choreography.
The nominations for “The Mousetrap” are:
• “The Mousetrap”, production;
• Sharon King, Tracey Ohler, direction;
• Tracey Ohler, leading role for Christopher Wren;
• David Gale, leading role for Detective Sergeant Trotter;
• Samantha Chatterton, leading role for Mollie Ralston;
• John DeDominicis, supporting role for Mr. Paravicini;
• Darla Slovak, supporting role for Mrs. Boyle;
• “The Mousetrap”, ensemble;
• Dana McLeod, Lyndsay McAleer, Victoria DeDominicis, costume design;

Award winners will be announced/presented on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the SPARK Science Centre in Calgary.
