High School baseball Cobras end playoff run

The Willow Creek Composite High School Cobras baseball team wrapped up their season this past weekend with Southern Alberta High School Baseball League Tier-2 championship playoffs.
The Cobras opened the playoffs in Cardston against Notre Dame on Thursday, May 23, losing by a score of 13-3, due in part to eight runs in the first inning.
Notre Dame jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning and added one run in the third.
Zak Wright hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for the Cobras.
Easton Wright pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for the Cobras. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (two earned), while striking out six and walking one. Zak Wright started the game for the Cobras. The righty surrendered five hits and eight runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Zak Wright and Easton Wright each drove in one run for the Cobras. Zak Wright led the Cobras with two hits in three at bats.
The loss put the Cobras on the consolation side and set up a date with the F.P. Walshe Flyers of Fort Macleod on Friday, May 24.
However, the Cobras fell to the Flyers 7-6 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Haze Sharatt singled, driving in the winning run.
The Cobras lost, despite out-hitting F. P. Walshe 12 to five. Keegan Scott led the Cobras with three hits.
The Cobras were the first on the board in the first inning when Micah Rice singled, scoring one run.
They extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Scott and Carson Ring.
The Cobras dropped a third strike, which helped F. P. Walshe tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
The Flyers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cobras re-captured the lead, 6-4, in the top of the sixth when Kyle Dixon singled, scoring two runs, and Rice doubled, scoring one run.
The Flyers then won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Ring was on the mound first for the Cobras. The righty allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out 11 and walking four.
Claresholm amassed 12 hits in the game. Rice and Dixon each drove in two runs for the Cobras. Joey Van Rootselaar collected two hits for the Cobras in four at bats.
