Football players needed

The Willow Creek Composite High School Cobras football team is in need of a boost to its numbers in order to make the 28-player minimum for 12-a-side football.
Previously, we’d go into a season like this looking to pull in a few more players in September, but this year, there is a hard minimum of 28 players for 12-a-side set by the Alberta Schools Athletic Association for Oct. 1. There is the risk of being ineligible for league play after that date if we don’t have those numbers.
On the other hand, there is a 9-a-side league forming with teams mostly in central and northern Alberta. They need confirmation by June 1 (this Saturday) so they can begin scheduling. Right now, the one team in the deep south is Kate Andrews of Coaldale, but there are other possibilities brewing.
