June 5, 1955 ~ October 18, 2023
Edward Saville Burles, 68, husband of Susan Wensink, passed away on October 18, 2023 in the Claresholm General Hospital.
Born on June 5, 1955 in Claresholm to Philip and Doreen Burles. Edward (Eddy) attended school in Coutts & graduated in Cardston.
After high school Eddy went north to work at a guiding and outfitting company and on an oil rig. He went on to work at various farm and ranches in Southern Alberta & Saskatchewan.
Unfortunately due to injuries and medical issues related to childhood diabetes his working career was limited. Like his mother, Eddy was very artistic; he drew pencil sketches and pastel pictures. Eddy also did artwork in wood carving, leather burning and pottery. He learned silversmithing and was working on making silver bits and spurs.
Loss of vision due to diabetic retinopathy gradually took away his ability to drive and ultimately the ability to pursue his artistic talents.
Through everything his love of horses and long distance riding remained. It was through endurance & competitive trail riding that Eddy met Susan. They married in 2007 and enjoyed 16 years together. Much of this time was spent competing and exploring the Porcupine Hills on horseback.
Eddy was predeceased by his parents and brother Bryan Burles.
A Celebration will be held at a later date.
