Norgard, Ellis

March 27, 1929 – March 27, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our favourite uncle, Ellis Norgard, passing on his 94th birthday.
Ellis Martin Norgard was born March 27, 1929. He grew up on the farm in the Claresholm/Stavely area. After graduation he, along with his sister Grace, took over the operation of the family farm for their widowed mother. They remained on the farm until moving into Claresholm in 2013.
Ellis was very active with Camera Club, Claresholm Fair Board, Farmer’s Market, and the Claresholm Craft Fair. He enjoyed gardening, reading, carpentry, card playing and birding. However, his special talent was pottery, which he taught for several years. Many folks still have the beautiful and unique pieces that he crafted. In later years birding became a passion for both Ellis and Grace, a hobby he carried on after Grace’s passing. Many neighbours in the area would see him on the backroads in his white car driving slowly checking to see which birds were back for the summer.
He was our “fun” uncle, always teasing, laughing and instigating water fights. We have lovely memories of him to cherish.
Ellis was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Karen Norgard, his siblings and their spouses: Clarence (Joyce), Margaret McGuire (Austin), Jim (Pat), Arnold (Myrtle) and Grace Norgard plus nephews: Geoff, Ed and Bill Norgard, Jim and Ken McGuire and his niece, Judy Niessen. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
At Ellis’ request there will be no service.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation at Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta
In memory of Ellis, may we suggest you enjoy a nice cup of coffee with a lovely piece of your favourite chocolate and a good laugh with your friends and loved ones?
