Crews battle grass southwest of Claresholm

A grass fire ripped through land south and west of Claresholm on the weekend.
The Municipal District of Willow Creek reported on social media that a report of a grassfire south of Meadow Creek Road near Range Road 282 was received at 12:29 p.m. on the afternoon of Aug. 20.
Willow Creek Emergency Services and fire crews from the Granum, Stavely, Claresholm and Fort Macleod Fire Departments responded.
The fire was declared under control at 4 p.m.
Approximately 640 acres of crop stubble and grassland were affected.
Municipal District of Willow Creek Emergency Services commend area landowners for their assistance with water hauling and the supply of tillage equipment.
Emergency crews were expected to be on scene into the evening extinguishing hot spots.
