Stavely school doing cereal box fundraiser

Imagine what a field of cereal boxes would like, all set up like dominoes, then tipping over the first one and watching the rest fall in order.
That is what the students at Stavely Elementary School are attempting to do when they embark on a community service project to assist food banks in Claresholm and Nanton.
Dylan Eskeland is in the Grade 5/6 class and described what the school is trying to do.
From March 29 to 31 people are encouraged to drop off unopened, regular sized boxes of Cheerios cereal in a box set outside the front door of the school.
If the school receives enough boxes, they will set them up and send them tumbling like dominoes at 11:30 a.m. on March 31.
It will also be recorded and posted to social media for people to see who may be unable to see it live.
Eskeland said the idea came from a video her class saw of another school doing the same activity.
“It was a fun and entertaining way to donate,” she said, especially since the pandemic has limited the school’s ability to collect donations for the food bank.
“We were thinking we could do a little more now.”
