Al was born July 20, 1936 in Apledoorn, Netherlands and passed away August 15, 2020 in Claresholm, Alberta, after a short battle with cancer.
Al was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He loved his dogs, the outdoors and coffee at A & W. He loved chatting with people everywhere he went. He was a hardworking man, a “Jack of all trades” with many experienced ideas. He loved working with his hands and put his heart and experience in many building and landscaping projects. He was always there to help his children with their projects, and was greatly appreciated due to his experience. Al loved to travel to BC and enjoyed camping. He dedicated his time helping Elaine with the horses and made many friends along the way.
Al is survived by his wife Elaine of Claresholm, daughter Bev Berry of Olds, granddaughter Chelsey (Eric) Berry, daughter Susan (Elliot) Dutton of Thorhild County, granddaughter Melissa (Rhyan) Dutton, great granddaughter Mylee, grandson Justin (Jenna) Dutton, son Steve (Belinda) Elyzen of Stavely, granddaughter Shealynn (Noel) Williams, great granddaughter Daylee, great grandson Braxyn, sister Gerrie Singh and brother Rene Elyzen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Aleida Elyzen in 1979, his father Albertus Elyzen in 1980, his brother Albert Elyzen in 1984 and his brother Bart Elgin in 2013.
No service will be held.
