July 11, 1934 – August 1, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Leah Lenore Bush (Dean). Leah was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and while growing up she resided in many communities some of which included Brownvale, Vancouver, Nanton and Calgary.
Leah attended University in Calgary to obtain a Teaching Certificate and later B.Ed from the University of Lethbridge. In 1954 she moved to Claresholm to begin her teaching career, retiring in 1989. Here she met her husband Don and they had two daughters Lynn and Shelley.
Leah enjoyed traveling with family and friends to locations worldwide. Some of Leah’s interests were curling, golf, camping, bridge, following politics and reading. Her community involvements included Claresholm Library Board Chairman, FCSS Chairman, and High School Curling Coach.
She loved her family and especially loved when they gathered together. Many hours were spent playing cards with grandchildren.
Anyone that knew Leah would agree that the following qualities defined her: kind, generous, open minded, wise, witty, and classy. She maintained a positive attitude and sense of humor even while sick.
She is pre-deceased by her parents Harley and Isobel Dean, husband Don and grandson Kyle.
She is survived by her daughters Lynn (Rob) Cowie, Shelley (Norm) Foxcroft; grandchildren Jennifer (Justin) Giles, Bryan (Katie) Cowie, Sarah (Bryan) Myles, Katelin and Teagan Foxcroft; great-grandchildren Clara and Brielle Giles, Ryle and Blake Cowie, Gavin and Blaire Myles.
A private graveside service was held at the Claresholm Cemetery on August 7. If desired, donations can be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation. Box 2638 – Claresholm, Alberta – T0L 0T0
